Active for Animals, open to all 8 to 13 year olds who are vegetarian, vegan or want to be, meets on the first Tuesday of the month in the Trades Hall, Grey Lynn, Auckland (6.30pm to 8.00pm). The aim of the group is to create a fun, supportive environment, where veg kids can feel normal and meet like minded friends. Sessions include games, visits from outside speakers, cooking and of course eating. The cost is $7 per session, which includes all food (vegan, of course!). The NZVS Wellington Branch Committee organise and run a monthly timetable of events that has something for everyone across the region – potlucks, a summer outing, Christmas dinner, film nights, tramping, eating out, talks by speakers and much more besides. The venues for events rotate around different parts of Wellington and the Hutt valley. To be inclusive we ask that all the food at our events is vegan.

Held six or seven times a year, at the Avon Loop Cottage, a charming character cottage. We meet on Saturday nights at 6pm and start dinner at 6.30pm. All members of the community are welcome – at a recent gathering participants included a 3-year-old boy and a 92-year old lady! This group is open to anyone who enjoys vegan food, with the proviso that only vegan food is ordered when dining out with the group. Vegetarian Dining Group is run under the auspices of the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre. Established in 2002, it is open to all members of the gay/lesbian/queer community who enjoy vegetarian and vegan food, with the proviso that only vegan/vegetarian food is ordered when dining out with the group. Most of our members are vegetarians or have a vegetarian partner or just really like vegetarian/vegan food! The group usually meets for dinner every 6-8 weeks. We meet for meals in Chch restaurants, both vege and non veggie. Meals are usually at a cheapish restaurant (under $20 for a main) and attendees will pay only for what they have ordered.
