We are closely associated with The NZ Vegetarian Society and will be organising different events to suit everyones tastes from casual coffee/food catch ups to music events (all food will be 100% cruelty free of course!). Active for Animals, open to all 8 to 13 year olds who are vegetarian, vegan or want to be, meets on the first Tuesday of the month in the Trades Hall, Grey Lynn, Auckland (6.30pm to 8.00pm). The aim of the group is to create a fun, supportive environment, where veg kids can feel normal and meet like minded friends. Sessions include games, visits from outside speakers, cooking and of course eating. The cost is $7 per session, which includes all food (vegan, of course!). The NZVS Wellington Branch Committee organise and run a monthly timetable of local vegetarian / vegan groups and events that has something for everyone across the region – potlucks, a summer outing, Christmas dinner, film nights, tramping, eating out, talks by speakers and much more besides. The venues for events rotate around different parts of Wellington and the Hutt valley. To be inclusive we ask that all the food at our events is vegan.

Our singles group meets on an ad-hoc basis with the aim of offering single vegetarians and vegans in the Wellington region a chance to meet and socialise together. We are setting up a new group to meet up approximately every 6 weeks, at people’s places if they have space or we’ll find a venue. The purpose of the group is to read and discuss books that are life affirming (fiction or non-fiction) and enjoy some vegan treats. The Wairarapa vegetarian and vegan branch meet monthly or bi-monthly to chat and share delicious vegan food and occasionally watch a movie. There are about forty members in our group although those numbers never attend all the meetings.

The Dunedin/Otepoti Vegan Society (DOVeS) meets for monthly potlucks. These potlucks are attended by vegans, vegetarians, and non-vegans. They welcome people at any stage of their journey and offer support and information about all aspects of living a cruelty-free lifestyle.
