Informal meet-ups of vegans and vegetarians
At Indulge Cafe, 99 Cameron St at 9.30am Saturday mornings. The word is out that if you pop along to the cafe after visiting the Growers Market or shopping the chances are that you will find some vege folk there. The cafe provides a few vegan food items too.

Vegetarian / Vegan Families Group

Vegetarian Families’ Group for over 5s meets periodically on a weekend or public holiday. We advertise on the Vegetarian Families chat group, or please call or email Bridget on 027 272 5287 or 521 8501. Although our activities are mainly organised in the interests of the school age child, younger children are welcome too.
Active for Animals! Youth Group – Wanna talk, cook, be, vegetarian?
Active for Animals, open to all 8 to 13 year olds who are vegetarian, vegan or want to be, meets on the last Tuesday of the month in the Trades Hall, Grey Lynn, Auckland (6.30pm to 8.30pm). The aim of the group is to create a fun, supportive environment, where veg kids can feel normal and meet like minded friends. Sessions include games, visits from outside speakers, cooking and of course eating. The cost is $7 per session, which includes all food (vegan, of course!). We also take in to account food intolerances and cater for them, whenever possible. Animal Rights and Wrongs Radio Show
Animal Rights and Wrongs is hosted by Julie Gunn, with support from Debra Ashton and Eric Wolff. Tune in every Saturday from 9-10am on Wellington Access Radio 783am. The programme includes the latest news on people working for animals. Regular topics include the factory farming of hens and pigs, dairy farming, live sheep exports, animal research, Kaimanawa horses, fur farming, veganism, environmental issues, palm oil, animal sanctuary’s, zoos, animal and eco friendly fashion, cruelty free cosmetics, hunting, and celebrities campaigning for the rights of animals. Wellington Branch Film Club
If you enjoy films then keep the third Tuesday evening of every month free and join us. We will advertise the film and session time in our e-notice the previous week so you know what’s coming up. The venue will alternate between the Cuba (Wigan St) and Petone (Beach St) Lighthouse Cinema’s each month so that people from both Wellington and the Hutt can easily join in. The cost is $11, we have selected Tuesday’s because it is cheap night at Lighthouse. Vegetarian Families Group

Vegetarian Youth Group
The vegetarian youth group has two age groups, 10-13 and 14-18, which meet on alternate fortnights, and sometimes all together for a social gathering.
This group is for all children and teenagers who are vegetarian/vegan, would like to be, or are interested in finding out more about vegetarianism.

Pot Luck Group
Held six or seven times a year, at the Avon Loop Cottage, a charming character cottage. We meet on Saturday nights at 6pm and start dinner at 6.30pm. All members of the community are welcome – at a recent gathering participants included a 3-year-old boy and a 92-year old lady! We ask people to bring $2 for venue hire and a dish of vegan food for all to share, as a large number of attendees are vegan. This is the best value meal in town, and a lot of fun! Contact CVC.
Raw Vegan Potluck
Wyenova Organic Farm, Broadfields/ Avon Loop Cottage, 28 Hurley Street. Supportive and fun meetings for people interested in or following a Raw Vegan lifestyle in Christchurch. Vegan Dining Group
This group is open to anyone who enjoys vegan food, with the proviso that only vegan food is ordered when dining out with the group. The aim of the group is to enjoy great vegan food, to give restaurants an opportunity to learn how to cater well for vegan diners, and to provide opportunities for Christchurch vegans and vegetarians to socialise. The group meets for dinner every 4-6 weeks, in Christchurch restaurants, both veggie and non-veggie. To join, contact the CVC to be added to the Vegan Dining Group email list.
The Veggie Puffs
Vegetarian Dining Group is run under the auspices of the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre. Established in 2002, it is open to all members of the gay/lesbian/queer community who enjoy vegetarian and vegan food, with the proviso that only vegan/vegetarian food is ordered when dining out with the group. Most of our members are vegetarians or have a vegetarian partner or just really like vegetarian/vegan food! The group usually meets for dinner every 6-8 weeks. We meet for meals in Chch restaurants, both vege and non veggie. Meals are usually at a cheapish restaurant (under $20 for a main) and attendees will pay only for what they have ordered.
