Use of the “Approved” Logo

If your company or restaurant is interested in using our trademark to identify products as vegetarian, please contact us about the approval procedure for your product.

What is VegSoc Approved?

The New Zealand Vegetarian Society operates the VegSoc Approved Trademark programme under licence to the UK Vegetarian Society. The Trademark, or seedling symbol, is approved for products which fit the criteria required to be vegeterian. Products must be manufactured and sold in New Zealand.

Our criteria

  • Free from animal flesh (meat, fowl, fish or shellfish), meat or bone stock, animal or carcass fats, gelatine, aspic or any other ingredients resulting from slaughter
  •  Contains only free range eggs, where eggs are used
  • Free from Genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
  • Cruelty free – no animal testing
  • No cross contamination during the production process
