There are many vegetarian and vegan events going on around the country.

Check out our Local Groups page to find a vegetarian group near you, and let us know if you are organising something.

The Noticeboard is for you: contact us to post your requests or offers of accommodation, support, group membership, work, veg*n animal adoption, or local campaigns.

      If you enjoy films then keep the third Tuesday evening of every month free and join us. We will advertise the film and session time in our e-notice the previous week so you know what’s coming up. The venue will alternate between the Cuba (Wigan St) and Petone (Beach St) Lighthouse Cinema’s each month so that people from both Wellington and the Hutt can easily join in. The cost is $11, we have selected Tuesday’s because it is cheap night at Lighthouse.       NZVS Approved - Heritage AucklandHeritage Hotel Auckland is celebrating being the first hotel to become NZ Vegetarian Society Approved by hosting a Vegan Degustation dinner.

      Contact Hector’s Restaurant by 15th August 2013 for bookings.

      One free hotel car park for duration of event when two or more people dine on the package.

      Animal Rights and Wrongs is hosted by Julie Gunn, with support from Debra Ashton and Eric Wolff.  Tune in every Saturday from 9-10am on Wellington Access Radio 783am.  The programme includes the latest news on people working for animals. Regular topics include the factory farming of hens and pigs, dairy farming, live sheep exports, animal research, Kaimanawa horses, fur farming, veganism, environmental issues, palm oil, animal sanctuarys, zoos, animal and eco friendly fashion, cruelty free cosmetics, hunting, and celebrities campaigning for the rights of animals.  Also expect great kiwi music, What’s On in Wellington and tips on how you can help the animals.  Sponsored by Opportunity for Ynimals.  Find their stores at 4 Bay Road, Kilbirnie and 162 Riddiford St, Newtown.       Vegans and vegetarians meet casually at Indulge Cafe in Cameron St on Saturday mornings at 9.30am.  The word is out that if you pop along to the cafe after visiting the Growers Market or shopping the chances are (but no guarantee)  you will find some vege folk there.The cafe provides a few vegan food items too.

    1. Green Party’s launch of new Animal Welfare Campaign “Act For Animals” @ Mt Eden Village Centre (Methodist church building)

      The Green Party would like to invite you and your team to the launch of the Green Party’s brand new Animal Welfare campaign “Act For Animals”.

      Green MP Mojo Mathers will be discussing how we can act on the unique chance we have to improve animal welfare in New Zealand with the current review of the Animal Welfare Act.

      Hot topics like animal testing for legal highs will also be covered in a panel discussion with guest speakers Vernon Tava of SAFE, Shelley Ryan of the RNZSPCA and Unitec animal behaviour scientist Arnja Dale.
