at the Green Bean in Vine St in Whangarei on Saturday mornings. The word is out that if you pop along to the cafe after visiting the Growers Market or shopping the chances are that you will find some vege folk there. The cafe provides a few vegan food items too. Pot lucks will be organised shortly.

Vegetarian / Vegan Families Group

Vegetarian Families’ Group for over 5s meets periodically on a weekend or public holiday. We advertise on the Vegetarian Families chat group, or please call or email Bridget on 027 272 5287 or 521 8501. Although our activities are mainly organised in the interests of the school age child, younger children are welcome too.
Active for Animals! Youth Group – Wanna talk, cook, be, vegetarian?
Active for Animals, open to all 8 to 13 year olds who are vegetarian, vegan or want to be, meets on the last Tuesday of the month in the Trades Hall, Grey Lynn, Auckland (6.30pm to 8.30pm). The aim of the group is to create a fun, supportive environment, where veg kids can feel normal and meet like minded friends. Sessions include games, visits from outside speakers, cooking and of course eating. The cost is $7 per session, which includes all food (vegan, of course!). We also take in to account food intolerances and cater for them, whenever possible. Animal Rights and Wrongs Radio Show
Animal Rights and Wrongs is hosted by Julie Gunn, with support from Debra Ashton and Eric Wolff. Tune in every Saturday from 9-10am on Wellington Access Radio 783am. The programme includes the latest news on people working for animals. Wellington Branch Film Club
If you enjoy films then keep the third Tuesday evening of every month free and join us. We will advertise the film and session time in our e-notice the previous week so you know what’s coming up. The venue will alternate between the Cuba (Wigan St) and Petone (Beach St) Lighthouse Cinema’s each month so that people from both Wellington and the Hutt can easily join in. The cost is $11, we have selected Tuesday’s because it is cheap night at Lighthouse. The vegetarian youth group has two age groups, 10-13 and 14-18, which meet on alternate fortnights, and sometimes all together for a social gathering.
This group is for all children and teenagers who are vegetarian/vegan, would like to be, or are interested in finding out more about vegetarianism.

The Vegetarian Option Radio Show – Plains FM 96.9,
Listen to Plains FM 96.9 straming live at PlainsFM a 30 minute vegetarian lifestyle show every 1st Friday of the month at 9.30am on the first Friday of every month to hear the CVC’s (Christchurch Vegetarian Centre) radio show ‘The Vegetarian Option’. The show is a vegetarian lifestyle show of interest to all New Zealand vegetarians and vegans. If you can’t listen on the first Friday of every month it is also podcast on the Plains FM website two weeks after airing, as well as on the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre website on the radio show webpage. PlainsFM the following week – your vegetarian lifestyle show.
