NZVS Approved Heritage Auckland’s chef in veg award contention

Jinu Abraham, head chef at Heritage Auckland, NZ's first NZ Vegetarian Society Approved hotel restaurantHeritage Auckland’s executive chef, Jinu Abraham, has been announced a finalist in the annual New Zealand Vegetarian Dish Challenge 2016. His entry in the breakfast category is a dish of tofu scramble with a ‘sausage’ pattie and palette of potato. The winner will be announced later in July.

Jinu won the inaugural competition organised by Vegetables.co.nz in 2012 and won again in 2014 in the luncheon category. He has spear-headed Heritage Auckland’s vegan/vegetarian menu options since 2011. He was also instrumental in Hector’s restaurant becoming the first hotel restaurant to achieve a NZ Vegetarian Society accreditation in 2013. Last year he was invited to present a vegan dish for the first time at the ‘Feast by Famous Chefs’ industry dinner.
