Vegan Baked Tofu Recipe

Baked tofu, easy to make and great tasting. Serve with steamed vegetables and cooked grains for a complete meal. Date puree adds a sweet touch.

Tofu is an excellent source of amino acids, iron, calcium and other micronutrients. It is a versatile ingredient with many health benefits. Homemade baked tofu is chewy, savory and very tasty.

Serving suggestions: add them to the dinner plate with rice or other whole grain; sandwiches with condiments, sprouts or green lettuce; an addition to wraps.


1 block firm tofu
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable broth or water
2 teaspoons date puree (soak dates in warm water for 15 minutes and blend)
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 ½ teaspoons fresh grated ginger / ginger powder
Black pepper to taste

  1. Cut tofu into 4 – 6 equal pieces and place into baking dish.
  2. Whisk other ingredients and pour over top.
  3. Bake uncovered 200 C for 30 minutes.
  4. Serve with steamed vegetables and cooked grains.
