Vegan Cashew Cheese with red capsicum

Recipe from GRACE Health Food Demonstration, Auckland Vegetarian Food & Lifestyle Festival.


1 cup cashew pieces
¼ cup sesame seeds
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon onion powder
¼ cup yeast flakes
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
½ cup red capsicum, chopped

  1. Blend cashews, sesame seeds and water first, then add the rest of the ingredients.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Ready to use on pizza or lasagna or can bake in oven for 45 minutes on 180°C for cheese.
