Sunflower Seed Patties

Sunflower Seed Patties

Recipe from the GRACE Health Food Demonstration, Auckland Vegetarian Food & Lifestyle Festival.


2½ cups Water
1 medium onion
3-5 tablespoons soya sauce
1 teaspoon Italian herbs
¼ cup oil
2 cups oatmeal
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup sunflower seeds (alternatively use a mix of sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds)

  1. Bring first 6 ingredients to boil in a pot.
  2. Mix in oatmeal and seeds.
  3. Let stand till liquid is absorbed, about 10 minutes. Stir lightly to mix.
  4. Form into patties and fry in pan or bake in oven at 180°C for 15 minutes each side.
  5. Can be served as burger patties or as a main with vegetables and roast potatoes
